Newsvoice may change the way we consume media

Lately I have been getting to know a little bit a bout newsvoice and I think they are hitting something good there. The idea they have tapped into is very promising

As a news media passionate, i tend to spend large ammounts of my free time reading and watching the news from all over the internet. It doesn't take long before you realize that most media channels are completely biased one way or another.  In this era of #infopandemia we are growing more and more towards a world where bias in media can really shift public opinion. #FakeNews are very common thing nowadays and every passing day it is becoming growingly and increasingly difficult to tell fake news from news apart.

Newsvoice is a community driven news platform where users get to vote the news. This happens in a similar way to how reddit works or spanish meneame. However, the platform goes one step forward by allowing to tag each of the media public websites that exist in the globe. By doing this, the reader instantly is allowed to obtain a small picture of what sort of bias does this news company have.

This is a great way to inform in a more clear way to the public about what the perspective or point of view the news media company is drifted towards. Users are also allowed to comment and send in their opinions about the matter. The potential for this technology is relatively clear, since over time you may get a more clear and community driven picture of how news media bias changes over time and may help us all - as internet users - distinguish when media companies are trying to spread information in one way or another.

It may also help us keep many of these media companies in check, preventing news media from swaying information too much into their political agenda and distorting the truth. The app's idea is to hold companies and people in power accountable where the community creates the content all together.

They also allow the user to diversify into several gamification strategies, which is also very convenient to keep the user engaged in the app. From a user experience point of view, these are the sort of interactions you want your users to have with your app in order to increase the engagement with them.

The app scans the content of thousands of websites automatically and then allows for the userbase to decide what contents are really important and matter the most.

The app is still at a relatively early stage, focused mainly in news from the United States rather than worldwide, but the app is quickly beginning to spread and users are becoming slowly more and more active. As of today, the app counts with 30k readers and counting upwards.   If you are interested in media and learning how bias in media works, this app could give you a small hint, as well as allow you to have a more clear picture about how the world politics and media politics work in the globe.
